Procrastination

So there's a whole bunch of stuff that I should probably be blogging about.  My donor egg research.  The options that we currently have on the table, the ones we can afford and the ones that would likely send us to the poorhouse.  All of the unexpected issues that I've discovered are surprisingly important to me.  But honestly, I don't feel like it right now.  I'm procrastinating.

Instead, I present to you a video that I saw online the week after my chemical pregnancy that actually got a chuckle out of me.  While it's not specifically aimed at infertiles, I think it's got a lot of sentiments that we can appreciate.  Hint: make sure you read the fine print.

Bonus marks for anyone who goes further and can actually make it through the comments section on the YouTube page.  It's honestly infuriating.  They're about evenly split between people shouting "Yeah, don't have kids, it'll ruin your life forever!" and "If you don't want kids you're a selfish pathetic waste of space who will never know what it means to be human!"  Sweet Christ, do people not get jokes anymore?  Morons.

  1. I personally love that video, Its actually pretty balanced on both sides of the fence plus it also makes fun of drug commercials. Its multi-layered humor. If you cant laugh about things than how do people get out of bed in the mornings?

  3. Ha! Great way to procrastinate. Although, if/when you feel up to sharing, I'd love to hear about all those other issues percolating in your brain.

  4. Somehow I only get to see 2/3 of it... too bad. Procrastination is normal, especially for issues as big as this one. Feel free to share more material, and then get to the harder topics when you feel you can handle them. Thinking of you.

  5. I've seen this video before and lurve it. As for the comments---People can take themselves SO SERIOUSLY and have a knack for flaunting their limited selves. Good thing we ain't them, ugh! I once wanted to blog something for Motherlode (NYX blog) but when I saw the comments secion on another infertility post, I decided that it would only cause me fury at this point...maybe some day.

  6. Don't blame you for procrastinating. Hilarious video... read some of the comments. People have no sense of humor. Period.

  7. Great video. I also have this morbid fascination of reading the comment section on EVERYTHING: news articles, youtube videos, anything--even though it's almost always infuriating. Blog about whatever you feel like. I'm sure when you're ready, you'll hash out your options here. Until then, post Cats in Sweaters videos or whatever you feel like. This audience is pretty easy to please.

  8. I'm selfishly reading up on all the great information that's been posted recently on DE research and once your research has been posted, I'm sure that I will no longer need to do my own. If it comes down to it, I'm pretty set on frozen egg transfer at Shady Grove, but I'll have to see what kind of donors they have and how much it all will cost. I suspect that I'm about 4 months away from any final decisions on that aspect, so feel free to keep procrastinating--at least for a little while ;). And that video was great.

  10. Procrastination.... sigh. I'm a queen at procrastination. As for you procrastinating about blogging those subjects, well, I'd say it's difficult sometimes difficult to put into words something that is so important. It's also difficult to expend any more energy on a tough subject than you have to.

I always read the comment section for things. It amazes me how judgmental people can be and how rude they are at expressing those judgments. It's one thing to have an opinion, but it's completely not okay how some people choose to share their opinions.

  11. You procrastinate all you'd like. When you are good and ready, then proceed. There is nothing easy about this. I came out of the gate charging and now I'm procrastinating. It's just not easy.
