I think I'm starting to figure out how this guy feels:
Well, OK, so strangers haven't started poking me in the tummy yet, but I have had a couple of people (luckily, semi-close friends) ask if they could rub my belly. Since both of them were very supportive during the bad days, I let them have a go. But I'm not planning on making a habit of it!
I guess what all of this means is that I've started to look more and more pregnant. Which is interesting, because it means that all of a sudden people seem to only have this one thing to talk to me about. In general, it takes one of two routes. People who know me a little bit better have been alternately telling me how awesome I look or (jokingly) slagging me for not having a bigger belly, whereas other people (mostly co-workers I don't know so well) just give me this weird smile and a sing-song-y "So how are you feeee-ling??" Lucky for them I'm feeling pretty good, because I doubt they'd seriously want to hear something like, "Oh, well, this morning I found something leaking out of my nipples. Is that normal?" (Answer: yes, but I don't actually have any nipple leakage. Yet.)
Anyway, I've been lax in posting headless bump pics, so here are a couple for anyone who's interested. And yes, it has become painfully clear to me that it seems like my entire wardrobe consists of stripes.

I had my 24 week checkup with my OB today, and was given a letter declaring me "in good health and able to travel" just in case Air Canada decides to give me any flak in a couple of weeks. M and I are headed back east to see my family for the holidays this year, and I'm seriously counting down the days!

ReplyDeleteGood idea getting the travel note! I flew last Feb and the flight attendant seemed concerned when I rubbed my belly after the baby kicked.
Have a great flight and trip home! I'm not going until February again this year. Just thint, next Christmas you will be going home with a baby! Did you find out the sex? Keeping it a secret?

DeleteLoving your bump!!!!! You must be tall. It's amazing how much bigger my stomach is at 24 weeks. Either I'm eating too much (which is entirely possible) or its my height disadvantage. Lol. But I'm seriously starting to waddle.
ReplyDeleteI'm almost 5'7, and I have an absurdly long torso and stubby little legs. I haven't got my waddle on just yet...although I'm sure it's coming!

ReplyDeleteI have no idea why they only sell striped shirts to pregnant women- like we need to look bigger (especially when you don't have a lovely bump visible yet)?
I thought the same thing as Jessah - you must be taller than me! My current 21 week bump is about like your 24 week. Maybe even a little rounder. But my torso is so short there's not much room to go anywhere but out (and my boobs are already at my chin). I'm not sure I'm "noticeably" pregnant to strangers, but people who do know are starting to say I've popped. I thought I would be bigger by now, but I'm not complaining. It's starting to get harder to do things...like get off the couch. I can't even imagine how much worse it's going to get!

ReplyDeleteI love that adorable belly! I bet strangers start making comments soon. I feel like I was showing less than you when strangers started asking me if I was pregnant. I thought that was pretty bold of them, actually. I got really lucky and no strangers ever attempted to touch my belly. I'm not sure how I would have handled that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had quite a few striped items, as well. I don't know what it is about maternity clothes and horizontal stripes.

ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!!! I was always super uncomfortable with people touching m belly in the beginning stages of "poppage." (I know it's not a word). But once I was undeniably pregnant and I could feel and SEE the babies moving, I loved it when other people felt the babies too. (Not strangers. That's just weird.). Have a wonderful trip to see your family during the holidays!
