One

One gestational sac.

One embryo.

One teensy, tiny, fluttering heartbeat.

One VERY relieved pregnant lady.

One super happy RE.

One RE's assistant who needs her clock cleaned for being an idiot, communicating poorly and causing unnecessary worry.

Oh, screw it.  I'm in a good mood today.  I'll let her off the hook.

One absolutely awesome group of strangers from the internet who remind me every day that I'm not alone, that there's a ton of people rooting for us, and that no matter how crazy I get, they're here for me.

    That's great news! Upside of the whole debacle from the assistant is that you heard the single heartbeat sooner. I'm sure hearing the heartbeat for the first time must be such a relief! Here's to hoping the rest of the pregnancy as uneventful as it possibly can..

    That is completely awesome! I don't know what it is with REs and their staff. I always liked my RE's nurse but she could be a little weird, and she was totally like that with my second pregnancy. I conceived semi-spontaneously the second time as I was prepping for my second first round of treatment (gearing up for kid #2 and steeling ourselves against the insanity we knew was coming. But I had to use progesterone to have a couple of cycles, and it was just after one of those that my cycles were still healthy enough in response that we defied the odds, for once). So I had a better idea of when I ovulated and when the baby-making sexy times happened than she did, and the whole time I was getting betas and my first ultrasound, I was the one who was having to reassure her that things were fine! I guess my betas were a little low, but they were fine, and I knew I wasn't as far along as she thought.

    I once thanked my OB for referring me to my particular RE, and she said she really likes to send people that way because he's pretty much the only optimistic RE she knows. She said that all the others can have really bad bedside manners and be real doomsayers, but he's just excited and hopeful all the time, besides having fantastic credentials. Why would you be in that line of work if you were a pessimist?!
